UPS Sucks. SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS.
(And apparently I am not the only one who thinks so…)
So today someone had to be home all day so that a package could be delivered via UPS 2nd Day Air. It’s no biggie, but it’s annoying to have to make sure someone’s upstairs to hear the door so that it can be signed for etc., and since T and I are out for a large portion of tomorrow, it’s important that I get the stuff today.
(N.B. It’s just some train reservations, not a Wii, sadly…)
So. I check on the packages from the UPS website most of the day. OUT FOR DELIVERY from 4:44 am on, it says. So, of course, I’m sure I’ll get it today, especially since it was expedited service, right?
7 pm rolls around. Still no package, and so I call the 1-800 number. I mean, 7 pm is after the close of the business day, isn’t it?
Apparently not. Apparently my package is still out for delivery, and could come as late as 8 pm.
Fine… we leave the front door open, and meanwhile, we get the baby ready for bed. There’s someone near the front door at all times.
Then, at 8:30, T is finally in bed. I half-expect there to be a notice taped to the door, since I closed it for the 20 minutes it took to rock him down (2 meters from the door, btw) and this is a trick they’ve pulled before… sneaking up to the doorstep and putting a notice on the door while we’re here without knocking… but no, there’s nothing.
So I check the website. Apparently, they tried to deliver the packages at 7:56 and no one was here.
Except that at 7:56 our front door was open and there was someone sitting right next to it.
LYING BASTARDS.
So I call the 1-800 number and complain. Their excuse is that “oh, the driver tried to deliver to the wrong address” (let’s say my address is 22 Apple Road, which it is not, but it’s similar. The address they claim they tried to deliver to was like 700 E. 1st St. GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK – it just happens that 4 minutes before they break their price guarantee they make a delivery attempt to the wrong address which is in no way similar??? I might add that this was probably the last stop on his route on the way to my place, since that’s about a mile away, but COME ON…).
My recourse? Um, I can have them type in a message to send a complaint to the local office.
NOT ENOUGH, UPS.
You guys suck.
I’m going to notify the sender and have them try to get their money back, because damnit, if I have to pay that much for postage, I’m not going to pay to be lied to.



You are sooooo right !!! UPS sucks it to the max! I rescheduled my whole day for their delivery. My $1000.00 Onkyo stereo sat in the New Stanton, Pa. location for 14 hours without moving an inch! What is happening in NS that the shipment doesn’t move for 14 hours? Do ya think there is foul play in the terminal? The last one I ordered from New*gg via UPS arrived so busted up the driver put it right back on his truck! He looked ashamed to be a part of this pathetic service! Someone please explain to me how a company this terrible, can stay in business this long when other, much better services like DHL fold up? It boggles the mind.
Of course my stereo delivery has been delayed, doubtfully, for the next day. Now I should take another day off of work for these retards! This is the last time! I’ll gladly pay more to go FEDEX!
FedEx ain’t much better. I’ve taken days of waiting for delivery. Then my package dissapears for a few days and show up un announced. This has happened many times.
I’m not advocating for any service – I don’t think there are any particularly great shipping options in the U.S> – I just don’t like crazy employees (“Mr. Big”, “bossman”) who search for “UPS Sucks” and then troll around insulting bloggers telling them to f*** off for relating their experiences. In my experience, FedEx sucks less, but your mileage may vary.
That’s what we did with our latest Newegg shipment – we paid 23 bucks for FedEx overnight on an external drive, and having it show up at the door this morning in one very intact piece was totally worth it.
Methinks Newegg does free UPS shipping on some things because they’re so bloody cheap. I guess you get what you pay for.
My wife operates a small business out of our home. UPS just leaves her packages in our lobby and I have to bring them up when I get home from work. When an important box weighing 20 lbs. arrived last week, she told our UPS guy on the intercom that she is pregnant, cannot lift anything, and asked if he would bring just that one box up to the door. He refused to bring the box up the elevator to our apartment. He said he was “busy.”
Wow… that’s absolutely horrendous.
Come to think of it, I had them leaving stuff outside the front door in the snow when I’d just come home from the hospital after a C-Section. Very nice.
Yeah, I’m sitting here waiting for an “out for delivery” package since 6 this morning, it’s now 6 this evening. Waiting all day, I’m now searching the net under “ups sucks” trying to pass the time. Will it be here within the next 2 hours? Who knows. I haven’t seen a UPS truck all day. They once left a package with books and cd’s at my side door in mid winter. I found it in the snow on the steps of an entrance I never use 2 weeks later. Nice UPS.
Amazing. That is what I’m doing right now, except now it’s 7:18 pm and still “Out for delivery.” UPS sucks.
I so agree with UPS sucking. I ordered my flowergirl dress from Macys in TN to be delivered to my mother’s house in OK. Well, 4 days ago UPS delivered the dress to the wrong address. The wedding is this Friday (today is Monday) and they are saying they delivered to the correct address…
Well, the address (Ex: 1234 S. Main is correct, but the Drive and Place is not!!!) Now, I have the pleasure of taking off work early to drive 2 1/2 hours to the house they delivered the dress to to pick it up.
I know you might be asking why my mother doesn’t get it, well for one, she shouldn’t have to and the other is she is homebound.
And after all this UPS still insists they delivered to the correct address!!!!
Ugh, how awful – the last thing anyone wants to worry about when juggling wedding plans is stuff like that.
And of COURSE your mother shouldn’t have to pick it up – that’s ridiculous. And neither should you.
I wish there were some recourse against these guys.

i also agree ups SUCK! As a matter of fact i will never purchase online if they plan on shipping UPS! Im done with them! They screwed up another delivery and claimed i refused to pay a tax on it! it was overnighted to me and was within us had nothing to do with taxes, come to find out driver claimed a “beware of dog” sign stopped the delivery and he blew the horn! I was home all day! Ive had several packages delivered here(usually behind schedule through ups! ) but never that issue. thye were supp to redeliver, i track again and it says they have the wrong address and a post card was mailed to me! they had my FU****ng number 3 hours earlier and we discussed no matter what deliver the package, theres no dog ect…I think they retaliated cuz i called the sender and told them to deny the overbight charges as i wasnt gettn it till the second day! and apparently it wont behere tomorrow as they somehow decided to try to deliver it at night and now claim wrong address!! they are screwed up and im glad alot of others agree. even if they lose one at a time, it eventuallly adds up! Fed EX is always on time, if not early and win my patronage! FU UPS!
I can relate, I took off an entire day of work to wait for these M****r F*****s only to be told that the package has been rescheduled for tomorrow. Several times during the day I continued to check the website for the status of my package. All was well until around 1:00pm when the status of package changed to rescheduled. I promptly called the 800 number and was told that I indeed was out of luck. The unhelpful young lady on the other end informed me that even if I wanted to the drive over 100 miles round trip to complete their job for them I still could not have the package. She did explain that UPS does deliver until sometimes 9:00 at night, but could not explain why not in this case. The dumb ass then informed me that if I was not home when they finally got around to servicing customers, they would be happy to leave my expensive package on the porch (for anyone to walk away with at their leisure). The final straw came after going around in circles with this IDIOT for ten minutes and getting nowhere fast.
She said I was welcome and asked if there was anything else she could do for me!!!!!! W.T.F? Does she really think that this was a customer issue that was handled with skill? Think this will go on her next job review come raise time? Who knows, in the eyes of UPS this seems to be the rule of doing business instead of the exception. This brain dead B***H is corporate material as far as they are concerned. I will from now on use Fed Ex for any package needs. FU UPS!
